lyrics

Well I met this girl, it was some time ago, and we were dancing mighty fine
So I wrote her a song, but in those days I just couldn't make it rhyme,
And as you can see I still struggle here, but now I won't put it down,
So let me take the tune, and turn it round, to sing about this town.

Pretty Essaouira, lying at the sea
Never shy to share a bit of beauty with me

Well I met this man, he was jumping the rocks in a way I wouldn't dare
When the tide went out then he went cutting of shells to sell later in the square,
These ocean waves were pretty damn strong, I was afraid they'd suck him in,
But everytime he was just too quick so the sea just let him win.

Well I met these girls on a roof terrace, one just turned twenty four,
And they asked me to play on the instrument I had standing on the floor,
Well you better watch out but a little song can hardly do no harm,
And so I played and they danced and the sunset came to chip in with it's charm

Pretty Essaouira, lying at the sea
Never shy to share a bit of beauty with me

Well I met a boy that I didn't know but he said he was my friend,
Then he showed me his shop full of magic lamps with a special price in the end,
Didn't need no candles nor garden lights but he convinced me that I did,
And now I'll buy another bag 'cause in the one I have I just cannot make things fit

And I met these gosts from the sixties in their castles made of sand,
There were Bobby M and Jimmy H, smoking hand in hand,
They were rather friendly but pretty damn high and when the moment came,
They stood up together and started singing "life is a musical game"

Pretty Essaouira, lying at the sea
Never shy to share a bit of beauty with me

about

Baragan Amsterdam, Netherlands

The folky pop songs of Baragan take you along on a journey, with music that was born on the roads of many countries. In Baragan's music you can hear the burning desire for the unknown, the longing for distant lands behind the hills, the yearning to surrender to a stream of encounters that make you drift away to new friendship and unreachable horizons.

Sing along, travel along and wander away.
